License Validations

I'm curious... wasn't there a license validator where you could check domains for valid Blesta licenses? I know WHMCS has one and I know Blesta has one... but I can't seem to find it?

 

WHere'd it go and why'd my google-fu fail me? :c I wanted to include the option for our company's clients to check license status for ours and others' sites.

Ah, nice... good to know. Hopefully it'll come out soon because I know one thing for sure: It'll help us spot domains that have illegal installations of Blesta and report them.

Yeah, I'd like to get that available soon, it shouldn't be difficult to implement. In the meantime, if you suspect someone may be using an unlicensed version of Blesta, PM me or open a ticket and we can investigate.

Nothing yet, so far... but I will do that whenever I come across an unlicensed install.

would it be possible just to code one myself for you paul?

as it seems I haven't seen this yet and in order to help you out I could just make one myself for you to use.

all it maybe needs is to tie into your database and check to see if anyone exists with the domain in question and if not return invalid or return valid if they do exist.

Thanks for the offer, but I think it would require certain knowledge about how our licensing is implemented. We have several license types, including trials, etc that would all need to be checked. I'm sure it wouldn't be very difficult to implement, it's just a matter of finding the time to do it.

 

If you want to take a stab at it anyway and send it over, we'll take a look at it and see if it'll work.

 

Do you have a copy of the license plugin/module already?

 

We were planning to implement this feature as a plugin that can be accessed via the portal like the download manager, support, order, etc. It'd just be a box to enter the hostname and return the result.

okay I am downloading a fresh copy from michael dance's website now to work on this

as I modified my own on my blesta to use slightly different techniques than the original license manager plugin uses.

it can be for anything but it has to be tied into the person's license manager plugin(well the api controllers at least)

yes make sure you have the license manager plugin since it was basically a heavy modified license_manager plugin I made this from.
