Cpanel Usernames More Than 8 Characters Results In Error

jwogrady

Question

cPanel now supports 16 character usernames, but trying to add an existing account with more than 8 characters results in Blesta error.

The username must be between 1 and 8 characters in length.

Per Cpanel,

For each new account, you must choose a username that contains 16 characters or less. Also, the first eight characters must be unique on the system to prevent issues with database prefixing and account transfers.

Proposed fix:

Extend the field to accept up to 16 characters, but validate the first 8 are unique.

In the meantime, is there a hotfix so I can override the 16 character limit?  I need to start billing those accounts.
