Default Upgrade client packages.

Hi,

Is it possible to upgrade client packages. It seems problematic to have to create a new product each time a client upgrades. Especially when auto provisioning is done.

Thoughts or comments?

Regards,
Tim

We'd like to build in automatic upgrading, for now you can do a manual edit of the service to change the package type and then manually invoice any difference in cost. It's a little easier than creating a whole new service.

Thanks Paul. How is the service provisioning handled? Would we need to manually adjust the actual server as well or would there be an update trigger?

Can't find where to edit the services - only allows me to suspend or remove.

Cheers,
Tim

When you go to edit a service there are 2 boxes, the one at the top performs an action with the module. Below that is where you can do a local edit...

so, if you are upgrading a cPanel account, for example, you would want do 3 things.

1. Do a local Edit changing the Package/Term field to reflect the upgraded package.
2. Upgrade the account manually on your cPanel server
3. Invoice the difference.

Thanks Paul. That's easy enough.

I assume, for a custom module, all we would need to do is use the call-back function after the custom edit to update the clients package on the server?

Tim

There's some work we need to do before modules will be capable of doing upgrades. In that case, their would likely be an upgrade option in addition to suspend/delete in the top section that communicates with the module. Doing a local edit doesn't interact with the module at all.

Uh oh.

I think we'll be needing that pretty soon. Just adding support for the call-back in the module functions would help. We could add this support in our module. Any chance of this being added in the next bug fix release?

Tim

We don't add features in bug releases.. but I'll check into it for the next minor release. No guarantees as there's a lot on our plate already but I agree, it would be really cool to have that working and I'd definitely like to get it in there sooner rather than later.
