Default TIP: Configuring SMTP using SSL with Blesta 2.x

If you're wondering how to configure Blesta to send outgoing email over SMTP securely, you can try the following:

1. Ensure PHP is compiled with OpenSSL support.
2. Click [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Mail Settings]
3. Select SMTP as the delivery method
4. Set SMTP Host to contain the protocol (ssl:// or tls://) and host name
5. Set SMTP Port to 465 (this is the standard port, but the server you're connecting to may vary)
6. Set your username and password and click "Update Settings"

That's it!

See the screen shot below, using gmail as an SMTP server over SSL.

Default What about pop3-tickets?

Hi Cody / All,

I've tried the above for pop3-tickets, though it doesn't seem to work. I say "seem to" because when I run the cronjob for pop3-tickets I don't see a success or failure message(s), just blank page or drops me back at the command line. Also there is no logging, at least that I can find.

Could you/someone check into this and maybe create a thread about "Configuring POP3-Tickets using SSL with Blesta 2.x"

If I figure it out I will update this thread.

Cheers,

S.

This is separate from secure POP for tickets.. this just covers outgoing mail from Blesta using SMTP. I don't think it's possible just yet to check for tickets via email securely.. will look into it.

It's currently not possible to setup pop3-tickets to use SSL when checking for ticket emails. This should be an option, and will probably be available in the version 3 line.

Ok, will look forward to v3 on pop3 ssl.

On a related note, the ssl smtp is working smoothly though I am finding that any and all invoices sent are arriving as 0k and unreadable. I can view online (admin & customer areas), so not sure what is up... any thoughts?

Logs don't show anything unusual.

Thanks,

Are they also 0k when using PHPMail instead of SMTP?

I've seen this happen before, and I believe it was a result of the temp directory not being writeable by the cron user. By default the temp directory is /tmp/, you might try creating a temp directory within your website space, and using this instead.

Default 0kb pdf files

Thanks for the suggestion Paul. Turns out I need to use the "Standard" PDF Engine.

Are you running the latest release? If I remember right there may have been a related fix.

The "Standard" engine, which uses ezpdf will not be supported any longer, starting with version 3.0.
