PayPal doesn't run my business either, however a lot of customers use them and trust them. My company is only 3 years old, and some aren't willling to trust me with their credit card information (even though I don't really even get it, stripe does) but they do have a higher regard of trust with PayPal. On the other hand some customers hate paypal and distrust them. Either way, I still wouldn't want to piss off my merchant gateway, just to save some pennies off each transaction.

Pretty sure this would be against PayPal's TOS. You can't offer cheaper prices to customers to use a gateway other than PayPal, nor can you charge customers an extra fee to cover the cost of PayPal fees. Pricing across all gateways is supposed to be the same.
Also what do you mean stripes fees are lower? Stripe is 2.9% + 30 cents. Paypal is also 2.9% + 30 cents

It would be best to have just a donation button as Blesta plans on making those modules shortly and the last thing people want is more monthly costs. I spoke with a few other providers they are all waiting for TCAdmin and Multicraft before switching to this. $500 isn't that bad of a price however last time I paid a huge amount of money for a custom option for Multicraft it was released to the public a month later which is a little upsetting.
Don't you hate it when that happens? Especially when the contract says you can't sell it to anyone else, and its licensed only to you >_<

http://simplecartjs.org/ This is a basic script (which does allow for some configurable options etc) that simply sets up an order for paypal, there is no back-end for clients to login etc, but it gets the job done and looks pretty good.
Codecanyon.net has lots of php/ajax scripts for maybe $15-$25 some have been in development for a few years and work pretty well, you just need to play around with them. And typically things on codecanyon aren't widely used so it may make the site a bit more unique, just watch out for security issues.
I agree with everyone else on magento, it really can be a pain sometimes but it will get things done.

I don't know why the attiude, do you consider above all else who knows less than you?, did you born with knoledge or just thinks that people that don't know about something should be not learning at all and just don't post on the forums?.
Forums are for posting problems, helping each other and make friends, sadly some people use it to show just how big their egos are.
You know what, please, do not try and help, you're not getting it, the rest of the people did helped me, and I learned a lot and beside the harsh critisism to the way I behaved, I accepted it because nobody disrespected me, except you, so, either refrain from trying to help people that are just inferior to you or take a break, watch some movie and relax a little before coming to the forums
I think his point was you should not be trying to run a business and take someone's money until you've had at least a few months experience. If your servers were to crash and burn (which is definitely possible regardless of how things get setup) would you be able to keep your company afloat? Its best to practice maybe with friends or other folks you know for free before diving in head first into something your only a novice at.
Taking a look at the packages CentOS uses and Ubuntu uses one can know why CentOS is one of the recommended distros for webserver.
They are still using Linux Kernel 2.6 and they always play it safe, using ultra proven php and nginx versions, I've should known better. I am sure next webserver, it will be CentOS. You're pretty much right in everything, ubuntu seems friendly, but they are too risky in the way they change packages.
Packages all depend on what type of Linux install you do. A minimal centos has hardly anything and you have to put in the required packages and build from scratch. You can do the same on Ubuntu. We have a few web servers running Ubuntu and Centos and never really had any issues.
Regarding why https:// in your URL's has to do with your system settings. The base URL is found somewhere in the settings (haven't used blesta too much to remember the exact path yet
) and if it had an https:// or didn't have an http:// then that would cause the issue you saw. As many others said you would be risking personal information of your paying clients by not using HTTPS -
TCAdmin and Multicraft are literally the only two things holding us back from switching to Blesta, and the quotes I got in the $500 for a custom developed modules didn't sit well with the budget. If you need any resources (such as a testbed, license etc) feel free to PM I'd be glad to help.

Not sure if she specifically means that site, but post for host means you have to make a few posts in a forum, and then you can apply for a hosting account. Usually done through some kind of forum integration to verify you have X amount of posts before you can have a free hosting account.

ModulesGarden made us a custom Hostbill module. It wasn't all that spectacular and there are a few annoyances that my staff have brought up, but it did what we wanted it too, and it wasn't that expensive. At the end of the day we got what we wanted. Now if only they could fix hostbill....
The one thing I need to get a majority of my customers over to blesta is an importer, and then a dedicated server module/order page (that allows for customizing options, such as hard drive size, memory amount, bandwidth options etc).

We don't get a lot of phone calls, but we are big on live chats, and in order for us to render support via live chat we require the customer give us their live chat pin and zipcode (which they setup during registration) to verify identity. If they refuse we require them to login and put in a ticket.

I would like to have this. Clients of course would have to authorize your company to collect funds from them (as opposed to doing a straight checkout or creating a subscription).

It seems that configurable options that work with the module are only available on the multicraft module. I didn't see anything on your Jira to indicate this was being added. Allowing the customer to choose the node group is essential to our business.
Similar to multicraft, we offer customers variable performance options based on what node their service is on. Some nodes are SSD based and others not. Additionally we offer multiple locations. Rather than make double the amount of products (one service in location X and another in location Y) we'd like there to be a configurable option variable that will let customers choose their solusvm node group on checkout.
