I personally am just fine downloading a CSV and putting it through VerticalResponse. :-) I can definitely see the value in sending directly through Blesta, but there is a point where you can run into walls, like your upstream provider thinking you are spamming. I personally really like VerticalResponse because you can buy X number of credits and you have a whole year to use them.

At home I have 100Mbps Down / 10Mbps Up. Home is also work for me. The speed test is from where I live, Central Saskatchewan, Canada to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Roughly 1300 miles (~2100km) as indicated in the pic below. This is why the ping is so high. :-) I wish my upload speed was better, though. As it stands, this is the best available where I live for upload speed. I'm actually uprooting the family and we're moving to British Columbia in August. Doing my research they do have faster upload speeds there. Shaw offers upto 250Mbps Down and 15Mbps Up.

I always try to keep my designs rather conservative. I've recently been developing responsive/fluid design and have had good success. I simply just try to avoid doing too much at once, even if the client doesnt like it and demands "MOAR BUZZWORDS!". What good is it if 1/2 or more of their visitors can't see it anyway? With that said, I also build my own side projects simply to try these new emerging technologies out. I have a longtime ongoing project I've been using in my home for the past 5 years or so. Its my own HTPC software I've built using so many different things. Originally I started with a traditional LAMP stack on a box next to my TV, running fullscreen firefox and some mime hooks to load media files into the player under the local user firefox is running on. Its been my ever evolving project in which I try out new stuff to see if I can make it work. The latest generation is back running a slimmed version of Firefox (for Pipelight/Netflix integration) and specially configured to act more like a Kiosk, but the backend is built on node.js, which includes its own little webserver and such. Its designed in a client/server setup now so you can set up multiple "thin" clients to interact with one backend service. One day I'll pull the wraps off it and make it an open source project but its just been something for personal use and there is literally zero documentation.

I totally forgot about this thread. Thanks for bumping it Cipher. In response to Paul, they manually run the card numbers through their terminals. The company they deal with now has a properly documented payment gateway I can run them through, never storing the information. For their type of business, where repeat customers are high, but several months to a year apart, they can type their card number in each time. I have since removed the CVV requirement off the payment page against the owners request, and he honestly hasn't even said anything. I don't think he's noticed. Hopefully I can get this all migrated to the merchant payment gateway system and he'll never be the wiser.

I guess as with everything, YMMV. I live in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. Because I'm dealing web application development, Incorporating makes my business stand out in a sea of "web designers" in my local area. My potential customers are looking for longevity. They dont want someone who is going to build it and leave them stranded with no support thereafter or hold their domains hostage.

To veer off on a tangent related to Pauls advice about building a lasting business, and people's trust. One peice ot advice I wish someone told me when I started out: Incorporate. Full blown Incorporation, none of this LLC crap. We don't even have them where I live. People (and small businesses) see it as a level of commitment. Depending on local laws, you cannot simply walk away from doing business. You'll be more invested as a corporation and people put trust in that for longevity.

I think this is being overlooked here, buy Blesta itself does not store the card data at all when used in conjunction with Stripe. No, it does not use Stripe.js (yet). Provided your server is properly serving up through an SSL/TLS connection, its fine. Transmission is fine, as long as its encrypted. What Blesta does store, is the Stripe token in which future transactions are processed with. Perhaps the devs can explain more indepth but from my own personal knowledge they are completely in the clear provided the user of Blesta properly secures their servers and all connections involving card data is encrypted.

I usually stick to free fonts or open source fonts like Open Sans or PT Sans. Then host them locally. I've also found some good webfonts at FontSquirrel. Most of which are free.

I'm not sure if you define how you manage your release cycles anywhere. Just some food for thought: The linux kernel used to be released in two branches, the odd decimal point was the beta/unstable version, and the even was production/stable version. It is entirely possible you could simply re-package the 3.1 branch of Blesta as the beta/unstable version, then focus on the 3.2 branch as the stable version. :-)

Yes this is possible. The way it works is based on the TLD. So you can have a different module for .com, .net, and .org. Then a different module for .eu, .co.uk, .de, etc. And yet another module for .asia, .jp, etc. It is designed this way so you can "game the system" per-se to get the best prices for your customers.

In my experience, I've yet to encounter a card terminal that requires the CVV in order to process a card-not-present transaction.
