GoCardless Payment Gateway and Auto-Debit recurring invoices

SamP

Question

With our current invoicing system the client sets up a direct debit mandate with GoCardless via a link sent out from the invoicing system (Quickfile) which takes them to the GoCardless site where they complete a form to create the mandate.

Then we are able to use GoCardless:

  • to auto-debit the invoice amount for recurring invoices
  • to take one-time payments for non-recurring invoices (the client can choose GoCardless from the payment gateways they have been setup to see)

I am currently evaluating Blesta and the GoCardless Plugin and the use cases do not seem possible.  The only option seems to be for the client to choose GoCardless as a payment method when paying an invoice.

if it is not possible to use GoCardless with Blesta as we do with our current invoicing system, is it possible to extend Blesta and the GoCardless plugin to achieve what we want?

I believe the GoCardless gateway with Blesta does the same thing that your current invoicing system does. The client will pay for an invoice and choose whether or not they want to setup a subscription or pay a single invoice one-time. Whether subscription payments or single payments are supported is dependent upon how you have the gateway configured in Blesta and whether the invoice being paid is recurring.

That's correct.. Here's a screenshot of the GoCardless config in Blesta

You probably want to select "One time and subscription payments when possible". If the invoice has recurring items only, then it will allow them to set up a subscription for it, and the recurring payments will be sent to Blesta automatically.
