Required Client Fields: how to require phone number?

Is there a good way to require that clients provide a phone number? Phone number isn't listed as a possibility in the Required Client Fields form.

I want to require this because it seems the OpenSRS module I'm using won't work if the user hasn't input a phone number; it sends a blank or misformatted one to OpenSRS. If I can't easily require client phone numbers, I'll probably edit the OpenSRS module code to put in my company's phone number when none is provided.
