Network Status And Schedule Maintenance
Blesta Addons and 2 others reacted to jbrooksuk for a topic
We've made a lot of changes for the upcoming v2.2 release including: Loading metric points with AJAX, your status page will no longer slow down when you're sending hundreds of thousands of points! Metric points are now stored as DECIMAL(15,3) for more accurate logging. Your components now have Shields that can be embedded on websites, documents etc. Visitors can now subscribe to a single component. They can also manage their subscriptions. The metric points API endpoint is now paginated (performance related) The component groups design has changed to make it easier to differentiate between non-grouped components and component groups which are collapsed by default. Meta content is updated to include Open Graph data. French is no longer German. New version API endpoint. You can now supply custom header and footer HTML. API results can now be sorted. API results can now be filtered. Metrics now show the y-axis scale bars. Probably a few more things left before a release too!3 points -

Blesta Vs Whmcs :)

i will not qoute any reponse , i will make a response global for all questions . first the template is for domain/hosting . so no sense to make "order other itmes" , normally we have 3 options ; 1- client take domain (register/transfer) + hosting package . 2- client take just a domain (register/transfer) . 3- client take just a hosting package with it own domain . so my template will handle all of this cases , it was hard for us to design a solution without hacking/changing the order plugin . so my solution is limited to what the order plugin support . in first i have designed the order as PauloV described , but we was blocked by the limitationb of the plugin itself , so we have arrived to actual schema . client select wich domain he want (i have used a standalone whois class) , then in the page of hosting package selection , he can select the hosting package or go without hosting selection . now i'm working in improving and trying to add some feature (if the order plugin can support ) .1 point -
Format Tax Rate
a.daniello reacted to flangefrog for a topic
Please format the tax rate on display. Instead of displaying GST (15.0000%) I want it to display GST (15%). Probably something like floatval($tax_rate) would be fine, I can't think of a reason anybody would need extra 0s. As a workaround I've changed the database column to be an INT.1 point -

Blesta Vs Whmcs :)

The solution of naja7host is simple and makes sence Think this way: 1º- You go to a hosting website to Buy a Hosting Plan, and click on "Buy Hostin Plan A" 2º- You are redirected to Blesta Order page that only shows 3 options I Would like to register a new domain. I would like to transfer my domain I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers You dont need any outher extra options, because you will by a Hosting Plan and not "Only" a Domain One of the "Confusions" abouth the order pages is this one that naja7host show how to make it work1 point -
I genuinely think I just fell in love with you :* The bottom option behaves how entering your domain under configurable option currently does. As for advantages/disadvantages I think Paolo pretty much covered most of them. I haven't used whmcs for a couple years so my input there is limited as I've recently noticed some nice changes in ui while researching other small hosting companies. With that said I think the key advantage of whmcs is its built in marketing tools. Whmcs is designed to help users make money. Key features include affiliate marketing, sophisticated coupon system that also ties into the affiliate system, the ability to create bundled products, as well as the option to offer free domains when you order x etc. Where blesta shines though is intuitive billing. Ie partial payments, pay invoice link etc although I would like to see partial refunds as well. Also multi company is a godsend, and very well designed. Judging by the well thought through database there is scope to have clients details shared between companies down the line ie through global client groups or something of that ilk. That way it can also be used in a multi-brand vein. Ie someone may have a company/brand exclusively for SSL that's separate from their hosting business. The way it's set up currently setup a user would have to sign up again for the second company although I haven't dug deeper since I started using blesta. The way I see it is as a marketing tool whmcs is king but as a billing tool blesta is king. Once blesta has had the time to get its marketing and domain game up then it will surely reign.1 point

I think one big disadvantage of Blesta is domains in general. WHMCS isn't great in it either, but Blesta simple sucks in it. The additional requirements you've listed there is just 1% of the features that needs to be build it, to let Blesta rock with domains. And, the WHMCS support indeed sucks, but I haven't heard great noises about Blesta either (although, I didn't experience this - yet, just becuase I didn't but anything yet).1 point

Well said Mike, thanks for that. Support & updates for Blesta Owned Branded and Unbranded is $39/yr after the 1st year. It's not mandatory, you just won't be able to upgrade or get support if it's expired. There are no penalties if you don't renew, wait some time, and then renew it. Also, for a fun, and biased comparison of Blesta vs whmcs, check out www.billingbrawl.com1 point

Welcome to the community, I hope you stick around . You can see my take on Blesta vs WHMCS here: http://www.blesta.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2512-blesta-vs-whmcs/?p=17790 When you buy direct you get support from Blesta, via the support desk, phone, etc. When you buy from a third party (re-seller, distributor, hosting company), they provide you the support, you can also get support from the community here. BuycPanel yes, GoGetSSL yes, Proxmox yes, cPanel DNS / PowerDNS no / no, you can feel free to open a feature request, hire a developer, make it yourself or ask cPanel / PowerDNS to do it. Yes you can sell VPS / Dedicated Servers, SolusVM / Proxmox, Virtualizor for VPS, Noc-PS for Dedicated or Universal Module (Manual). You can use the free live chat plugin from PauloV, or you can just use a paid one like Zopim and put the code into the structure.pdt file. Easy if you know how, you have all the code there for you to look at minus the 3 files for licensing which is encoded. Patched when possible, you can look here: http://www.blesta.com/forums/index.php?/forum/16-news/ for the past updates, and there's hardly any bugs, just ones which people have missed in beta versions, etc. Depends who you use, most companies work in the opening hours. Blesta is 8am - 4pm PST. Yes you do require it for support and updates, you can get support from the forums or your vendor if you wish to, and you don't have to upgrade Blesta you can just patch the version you are on. And when you are happy pay and upgrade. You get the year from when you pay.1 point

Blesta markets itself as "The Billing Software Platform for Hosting Providers" so i don't think improving the experience for shared hosting is too much to ask. It's a super product for VPS and dedicated servers. Actually I think its the best billing system period for literally anything other than shared hosting. Anyway this should hopefully sum up the desired user flow but anyone else can chime in to improve it if I've missed anything. The next step would be to figure out how that translates to the UI. The primary problem with current UI is there is no option for admins to add context e.g. with tooltips or field descriptions. this is fine for smart users but shared hosting users aren't always technically inclined. The current problem is if a customer uses paths A or B there is no easy way to get to C if they don't already have a domain. Nor is it clear that they need to get a domain. This is the main cause of confusion that many admins have been hoping to be changed in this forum. Currently landing on a package with pricing gives the configurable options box for domain. one proposal could be to have 3 radio selects below the domain. 1 that allows the customer to use the domain they've already registered and is the equivalent to how just pressing continue currently works, another that allows the customer to transfer a domain (not as important but its a nice extra) and finally one that will search for the domain. Radio selects would allow for more elaborate language but if someone can think of concise ways of getting the point across then buttons may be better.1 point
