Invalid Domainname For Given Contacttype

Question

Posted

Hello,

I am trying to register a .co.uk domain via Blesta using the Logicboxes Module (reseller club). All works fine until i try to activate the product which brings up a error "Invalid domainName For Given ContactType"

After checking the logs it shows the following - All successful apart from the very last one which is a output. Shows the following error

https://httpapi.com/api/domains/register.json

{"status":"ERROR","message":"Invalid DomainName format - **DOMAIN NAME**"}

Does anyone has any knowledge of this.

Thanks

"Invalid domainName For Given ContactType"

this error has only one reason , the domain extention is restricted to just some clients that thier country match the TLD extention .

Hello Naja7host, this customer is based in the UK for a .co.uk and have checked to make sure it states UK on his account

Invalid domainName For Given ContactType

Perhaps Blesta is trying to set admin-c, tech-c and billing-c while those do not exist for .co.uk domains?

Those should be set to contact ID -1 according to logicboxes API documentation.

The Administrative Contact of the domain name.

Note

Pass -1 for the following TLDs:

  • .EU

  • .NZ

  • .RU

  • .UK

Or perhaps it is not using the right contact type as registrant.

Other modules (like eNom) also make the mistake of only having special handling for 2nd-level .uk domains, while most of these things apply equally to .co.uk.

As I understand it, general contact types cannot be used for ccTLD registration. They have to be country specific contacts. When adding a contact, the contact type is required, and for ccTLDs, the contact type has to be set to "UkContact", "DeContact", "EuContact", for example.
