  1. This page is more applicable - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_software Blesta is not free, and cannot be redistributed. It's made available under a commercial license. To contrast, we have released minPHP (The framework for which Blesta v3 is built) as OSS (Open Source Software) under the MIT license.
  2. According to Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source Blesta isn't open source at all, rather the vast majority of the code is unencoded and available to edit for your own use. While we choose to make the code available, there's a difference between that and open source software.
  3. Of course we have considered Open Source, we contribute to it -- http://github.com/phillipsdata however Blesta is a commercial product and will remain so. Yup
  4. Thanks for your confidence! We can do it with your guys help. I can definitely see the benefits for ease of entry for small hosting companies. Something to consider. We're definitely legit! Real people in a real office, writing really awesome code! If you're ever in the area, let me know, you're welcome to stop by and say hi.
  5. Good questions! We are all full time, and work in the same building in Tustin, California. A lot of other companies do really well with remote staff, but we find that being able to communicate with each other frequently, as you only can in the same location, has been a really good thing. The $99 promo right now is a great deal and it is really cheap. The price will be going up when we release v3 officially and we'll announce pricing soon. It will be similar to our largest competitor, nothing ridiculous. Having a full time staff, and office rent is not cheap, especially in California. But, if we can capture a good 30-40% of the market in the next year or two I think we'll be doing really well.

I think you've got a nice name, and the website looks to be starting to come together. Awesome!
  7. We don't need it, so if anyone else wants it, go for it!
  8. I may post the photo later. Never been to Defcon, would definitely like to go sometime.
  9. I think there's a photo of me outside a sandwhich shop in Austin, lol.. I didn't post it though.
  10. I can definitely see how small hosting companies might not benefit from hostingcon, it definitely has more appeal to hosting industry vendors. Though, there is probably benefit in establishing better relationships with those companies you work with.. control panels, registrars, merchant providers, etc. When you have suggestions, they are much more likely to act when you discuss in person with a higher up. All of the sessions had someone handing out and collecting surveys for the session. One of the questions was whether or not the speaker had a sales pitch -- they have said that speakers with a sales pitch will not be invited back. So, I think that's something that was definitely a problem, and that they are working on. In all the sessions we went to, there was maybe one or two indirect sales pitches, so I think it's much improved. I can say that you're probably right.. there does seem to be a bit of a clique, but I don't think it's overt. I wouldn't say everyone knows who we are, but we did fit in pretty well and didn't have much trouble talking with people. It's clear that a lot of people know each other very well, but I think it's because the industry is so small.
  11. As you guys know, Cody and I went to Austin this week for HostingCon. We had a really good time, and met with a ton of people. It's definitely interesting to see what everyone is up to, meet some people again, and others for the first time in person. Here are a few pics from our time there.. The convention center - Main hall, before opening ceremony - cPanel/SoftLayer party (part of it, there was another room and a balcony up top where most people were) - Around town, the capitol building - Cody posing by the competitions booth - Competition Jenga, it kept falling apart, over and over and over (A sign?) - Some of you may be wondering, yes we did meet both Aaron and Matt and others from their team. We didn't think to ask for a photo at the time, but we had a really good, friendly chat. Even though we are competitors, it was really nice to meet them. Ultimately, we strengthened some relationships, formed some new ones, and got a lot of great ideas that should be coming down the pipeline in the future. Wherever we went, we found people who were excited about Blesta and wished us the best. It's really great to know that so many people are behind us, and it's hard not to get at least a little charged up about the future. So, was HostingCon Austin a success? Absolutely! Looking forward to the future.

There definitely hasn't been enough love from hosting billing vendors in the past decade. Hopefully we can change that and shake things up a bit.

    Contact Types?

Good observation. I suspect this is the intended behavior for now, but we may want to take a look at this once the ability for contacts to login has been implemented.

    Contact Types?

Contact logins are planned, so you can expect that in the next few official releases.

  22. Are you saying you can play PS3 games on the PS4? Because I heard the opposite, but maybe it was just a rumor.

    New Domains

It was probably 2 months ago.. I'm a really bad judge of time, soon after they first started offering the service. I tried to do a password reset, but it doesn't even recognize my email address. They were really breached?
