Disable Https Completely?

Alex Vojacek

Question

Hello wonderful community.

I just bought my first license of blesta, the owned unbranded.

I finished my portal here:   http://clients.elysiumservers.com

but as you can see, some parts reads in https and some in http.  I managed to create a rule in nginx for the server to load each part and jump to http each time but it is of no use since a new web browser will ask for authentication in the SLL as soon as the redirection tries to work.

I know all about SSL but as of right now, i can't change the http url on 2checkout without having to pay them for doing it and I really don't want to pay for a SLL certificate so my clients don't  look to that horrible red page of "unsecure, danger... better leave"  unsecured SSL.

Is there a way to completely disable SSL and force blesta into http only?,  probably in the future when I have more money I will change the 2checkout url and pay for a SSL authority certificate but right now, I spent all my money on the license.

If you point me in the right direction I think I can handle myself, I need to know at least the files that controls https and http.

Thank you guys.

You're so cute. I already checked every log there is,  this was a very strange problem, I supposed that ubuntu 13.10 and the downgrade did a mess of the system, anyway, i'm not scared of making mistakes, but you're so bend on reminding me how novice i am.

Funny thing I learned the hard way a several years back. While Ubuntu is an excellent for a desktop OS and great in business productivity server environments. Ubuntu is not so great for web hosting. Most software out there for web hosting seems to  be more friendly with Centos . The irony here is for desktop computers and gaming most programers go the Debian route :P. Why it is the opposite in the hosting arena I don't completely know.

Keep in mind I am not saying Ubuntu will not work.

Oh and if you need help ever feel free to skype me =).

I don't know why I bother trying to help some people. Not again.

And Ubuntu 13.10 is no where near "bleeding edge".

I don't know why the attiude, do you consider above all else who knows less than you?,  did you born with knoledge or just thinks that people that don't know about something should be not learning at all and just don't post on the forums?.

Forums are for posting problems, helping each other and make friends, sadly some people use it to show just how big their egos are.

You know what, please, do not try and help, you're not getting it, the rest of the people did helped me, and I learned a lot and beside the harsh critisism to the way I behaved,  I accepted it because nobody disrespected me, except you, so,  either refrain from trying to help people that are just inferior to you or take a break, watch some movie and relax a little before coming to the forums.

Taking a look at the packages CentOS uses and Ubuntu uses one can know why CentOS is one of the recommended distros for webserver.

They are still using Linux Kernel 2.6 and they always play it safe, using ultra proven php and nginx versions,  I've should known better.  I am sure next webserver, it will be CentOS.  You're pretty much right in everything,  ubuntu seems friendly, but they are too risky in the way they change packages.

I think his point was you should not be trying to run a business and take someone's money until you've had at least a few months experience. If your servers were to crash and burn (which is definitely possible regardless of how things get setup) would you be able to keep your company afloat? Its best to practice maybe with friends or other folks you know for free before diving in head first into something your only a novice at.

Packages all depend on what type of Linux install you do. A minimal centos has hardly anything and you have to put in the required packages and build from scratch. You can do the same on Ubuntu. We have a few web servers running Ubuntu and Centos and never really had any issues.

Regarding why https:// in your URL's has to do with your system settings. The base URL is found somewhere in the settings (haven't used blesta too much to remember the exact path yet :P) and if it had an https:// or didn't have an http:// then that would cause the issue you saw. As many others said you would be risking personal information of your paying clients by not using HTTPS

I know about the risking, first of all, this hosting is primary for my personal clients, people whom i know personally and i wanted to make it more open. I provide most of all webshoting and teamspeak servers but yes, I already agreed about the importance of SSL

Did you read my previous comments?,  I accepted the error.

It i s really necesary to tell me time and time again how wrong I was?,  do any of you started a business and made a mistake?,   it is not allowed to be a novice and not want to be a novice on this forums?.

I completely understand your point, but having recognized myself my own fault, i really don't see the point in telling me all of this time and again.

is as nobody ever made a mistake.  It is allright to make mistakes you know, that's how people learn, basically.

I think everyone acknowledges their mistake in participating in this thread. :P

Alex don't take things to heart. It's going to get much worse in this industry. We've all been grilled when making assumptions... if we didn't we'd still be making them.

No one is attacking you personally they're just reacting to the rhetoric. Make friends not enemies.
