Post Installation Steps

Virtovo

Question

We're currently trialling the Blesta trial; however the final page of the installation sequence was suppressed by a licence error and would not let us move forward until we entered a valid key (there was no trial option at this point).

We're wondering if we missed any post installation steps.  Most similar products display info like deleting the install file/directory and chaining directory permissions or moving directories.  Just wondering if we missed any info or people could recommend good practices post installation.

Regards

We ma

Please open a ticket with Blesta or email sales@ and they will give you a trial- license key. Which version was you installing by the way was it 3.0.7?

We managed to activate the trial by exiting the installer sequence and then visiting the main path.  We just wondered if we missed any post install steps.

This was for the latest stable release.

The final steps (post installation) is to creat your first administrative user and choose either a trial or an existing license key. Are you saying you didn't see this step, or are you saying this is the step that gave you trouble?

The final step we saw was a page to enter a licence key.  No chance to choose trial.  We had to close the page.  When we visited the install location we could then choose trial.

Some directories and files were set as writable during the install.  Is there advice as to which need to be left writable?

I believe you mean the one which is a textbox and a button saying License Key. it shows up if the license has expired or not valid.

There's no need to make any permission changes after installation. The only directories that should be writable are the upload and temp directories as configured in [settings] > [system] > [General] > [basic Setup]. However, it's a good idea to leave /config/blesta.php writable for future upgrades.
