Looking forward to the new update, running a reseller account so the ability to use this in conjunction will be a nice change

Edit: nvm, found the one I had used before...just took a little digging.  Licensecart for the win

I think the intent was to produce a patch file that you can run from the command line and fill in all the changes automatically, or fail if it can not. However it looks like @Hix posted an diff based on an older RCS format. Creating a diff with the
diff -u option would be better and easier to understand, IMO.

Daniel B reacted to Michael in Warn clients who aren't using Two Factor Authorisation.
I've spotted a few of our clients who aren't using Two Factor Authorisation and so to try and push clients to use this cool feature, I've put this warning on the client area. And thought I'd pass it onto the community who would also like to use it.

In /app/views/client/bootstrap/structure.pdt under the Blesta Nav you can paste this code:
    <?php if ($this->Html->ifSet($logged_in)) { if ($client->two_factor_mode === 'none'){ ?> <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-sm-12"> <div class="alert alert-danger alert-dismissible" role="alert"> <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="alert" aria-label="Close"><span aria-hidden="true">&times;</span></button> <strong>Warning!</strong><br /> <p style="margin-top: 0px !important;font-size: 13px;"> It seems you haven't activated Two Factor Authorization yet? It's a security feature in which you provide two means of identification to log into your account.<br> You can enable it <a href="//licensecart.com/customers/main/edit/" class="alert-link">here</a> under "Authentication". </p> </div> </div> </div> </div> <?php } } ?> All you need to edit there is the licensecart.com to your Blesta installation url. It will display a message like so:

From what I can see and what I've read, it looks like they completely removed the option for owned licenses.  There is also a new"WHMCS Hosted Coming Soon" on their pricing page.

I want to offer a free addon / option on certain plans. How can I make blesta automatically "checkmark" that addon during the order process?
It's more of a marketing thing, so you say "hey you get this thing for free! its value is actually X dollars, but you get it for free!" type of thing. And it's automatically checked as enabled.
And of course, because this option has an internal cost, i'd like it to be charged/credited properly on the invoice and reports.
    How can I do this?

We use Slack internally and most of our systems tie into it so everyone can stay up to date on the progress of tasks, pull requests, etc.
I'd love to get some Slack integration into Blesta.

I use mainly Discord and Slack depending on what I'm doing...Discord is actually really nice once you get used to it...and removed the mess of having to host your own stuff.  I might have to join that Mumble though if it gets opened up :).

We have a Mumble server we host and use when we play games, that we could potentially open up. Tried Discord, seems interesting, but it never caught on in our circles.

I don't really feel either way about it.  I do have to admit that progress on the domain module has been super slow, so he's got a point there...but I've seen plenty of response from Paul and gang to criticism as well, so that point isn't really that accurate (at least in my opinion).

Thanks, I've moved CORE-737 to the short term bucket.

In the meantime, there is an option to block or force manual review of orders that use free email addresses with Maxmind.

Daniel B reacted to blazedd in Janitor: Order Cleanup Utility Plugin
    Blesta: Janitor
Small Blesta plugin to automate cleaning of abandoned orders, invoices, and services.

    Installation
Download the latest release version from our releases and then simply upload the janitor folder to ~/plugins directory on your Blesta installation.

    How it Works:
Janitor creates two cron entries which can be configured both by the cron settings and by the direct plugin settings. All of the plugin’s settings are based on the time the order was created. It may be important that you not cleanup and cancel at the same interval if you expect the orders to be marked as cancelled for any amount of time.

Both cron tasks will never cleanup any orders or services which meeting the following criteria:

The order’s invoice has any amount paid towards it.
The order’s service is active or already cancelled.
The order’s invoice is completely paid and is already closed (database: invoices.invoice_date_closed)
    Cron Task: Cancel Abandoned Orders
This task is designed to strictly check for open orders which have never had any payments attached to them. First, the task will cancel the order and then next, it will void the invoice with a message as described in the language file. This cron task will also cancel any services attached to the order. This part of the cron intentionally leaves orders, invoices, and services in the database, in the possible event of this data being used by sales automation, etc.

    Cleanup Order Database
This task is designed to completely delete all related database entries related to the order. It will remove the orders database entry, the order_services entry, and provides you the option to either leave the services as marked cancelled, or completely delete the service from the database via the plugins options. Only canceled services will be deleted if this option is set. If the service on this task is any other status than canceled, as set in the ‘Cancel Abandoned Orders’ cron task, it will ignore the service entirely.

I wouldn't think it would be that hard to get this feature added (or custom developed by someone).  Each server already has it's own nameservers set in Blesta, so all that would be required is for the domain module to check and see if that domain is already assigned to a service, if it is it should pull the nameservers of the server that the service is provisioned on.  I haven't really gotten into that much of the development side of Blesta...but it doesn't "sound" that hard from an outside point of view .

Maybe something to include with the Domain revamp coming.

What type of license would you be releasing it under?  If you'd consider releasing the modules under the MIT license, this wouldn't be an issue.  Though you'd also be giving up complete control as well.  But if it's just the modules and not the Blesta core, that might not really be an issue since you would need Blesta for the modules anyway.

The way he said it is totally inappropriate and lacks respect, but shunning him for an opinion isn't right

I have a fairly large commitment towards Blesta (addon companies), but I can't actually use Blesta for what I need it to do. Do I want to use Blesta? YES. But right now, I'm stuck using WHMCS because of core components that Blesta will not get to until 4.1 at least.

The reason I can't use Blesta? Because it would take a lot more money to customize it and bring it up to speed, than it would be to simply use a competing product. And even then, it wouldn't be 100%

Let's be honest here guys, the development of Blesta is pretty slow. I'm not sure if the hope was that 3rd party developers would take up the slack, but there's been a really big mis-read on what your customers are using Blesta for, and what you think they should be using Blesta for.

I think WHMCS got their act together security-wise, finally. But I don't like their company, I don't like how cPanel runs things either (but use them for server software... because cPanel).

I really like Blesta, I met the Blesta guys at multiple Hostingcons, great guys, but Blesta needs to kick it up a notch if it wants to grow and put a dent in competitors' market-share.

I'm still rooting for Blesta, i haven't sold my license, and still pay for updates even if I don't use it. But I wish Blesta would really start focusing on what customers want to use Blesta for, how they use it, how many clicks it takes to get to something, intuitiveness, along with a whole bunch of other things, and start moving development resources towards those pain points first, and worrying a lot less about ancillary stuff.

Maybe even provide smaller, quicker updates. When a new feature is built and tested, ship it out. Stop waiting 3+ months to make bigger splashes with releases. You're a smaller company, who should be much nimbler than your bigger competitors. Use that to your advantage. You have the ability to pivot quickly and release things nearly as fast. I don't know why you don't do it.

Like someone once told me, it's fine to give out ideas and roadmaps about where you're going. It's the execution that counts, and few people can do that part well.
